Found Offense
Leads to Big Win for Braves
13-1
It's the type of game the Braves players needed, and the type of game the coaching staff hates being involved in. Saturday, the Ribbons Braves put 13 runs on the board in three innings to defeat the National Yankees by 12. Leading the offense were Bryant Valenzuela (2 for 3), Ricky Rivera (2 for 3 2b, 2rbi) and Johnny Huizar who connected in his second at bat on a monster blast to left center field landing on the track. Huizar, normally the coolest cat on the field raised his hands over his head and began jumping up and down as he rounded first base a la Mark McGwire with number 62. Four Braves logged their first hit of the Season Saturday including both Rivera and Valenzuela, along with Josh Marquez and Javier Solorio. On the mound the Braves used three separate pitchers to combine on a 1 hitter in which Brett Woods, Vision Pluma and Rivera surrendered four walks and one unearned run while striking out four. Braves coaching staff now hopes the confidence gained will transcend into success against Solomon, Saxon and Bates the second time around. For now, the Braves prepare for the Rockies on Thursday with Reggie Lawson and the Dodgers Saturday. SPECIAL PLUG
Excerpt from the Gary Elder interview with THE REPORT on Saturday after the Braves big victory over the Yankees:
"I just honestly believe you guys (Braves) looked a little soft today." Gary Elder stated when told to please remain positive throughout the interview. " And it's a direct reflection of your head coach, that Woods character." continued Elder, " Do you think that's what you should teach kids, to play station to station and show some class? Where is that going to get anyone in life? The Dodgers, my players, my team, we don't let up, we will never let up I want to score a hundred, yeah a hundred!!!!!!!"
Elder became animated and full of energy as he continued " How can you even consider the Braves part of Ribbons after today? It's ridiculous to ever settle for a 12 run victory, last year I was tossed from a game for arguing a ground rule double that the ump called a homerun. You remember, we're up 16 -1 in the second and some kid on the American Angels hits a ball in the gap, and I see it from nearly 175 feet away and at a bad angle go through the opening, clearly. Well this obvious homer ump at Liberty who's standing in perfect position maybe to feet from the ball says it cleared the top of the opening. Well I lose it, if that stands its down to a 13 run game. I take off first after the base ump who doesn't change the call then the ump at the plate who will say nothing to me other than "Are you seriously arguing this kids first homerun with a 16-3 lead? No I says it's a 16-2 lead and I don't care if its the first ball he's ever hit in his life, It's a double. So they proceed to throw me out of the park. Then the police show up and you know, between you and I, cops and umps have got to be................"
This is when The head umpire and Police Detective, Ken Woods proceeded to tazor Gary Elder into submission. Gary later claimed to never have said any of the quotes on the team pages featured today, He said all he said was "that the team's coming along, we're starting to show signs of life and it should shape up to be a great season." "And You can Quote Me", right Gary?? Thanks Gar appreciate the interview.
And that's it all three home pages current. And fully updated. Don't forget the deal..........
